Mike is an old friend of mine. We met in 1974. We have been friends ever since. I knew him when his dream to become a guide and build his lodge was just that...a dream! I am extremely proud of what Mike became and what he has built. This book is a beautiful tribute to his life and his success!

The photos are beautiful for any wanna be mountain man who never had the chance to explore and live in the wild. The story of Mike's life after his grade school years was full of adventure and challenges. I went to grade school with him and am so impressed with what he has accomplished by living the simple but yet dangerous lifestyle in the Alaskan wilderness. I highly recommend the book and hope for a sequel.

Totally gripping. I'm actually surprised that Mike (Buck) survived a couple of the encounters to talk about them.

Buck was quite a charachter. I see several pictures I took of him. The one leaning against the beam looking out at Skeeter Lake was one of his favorites. I have many, many more.

Great book, great guy.

Eye opening!! Impressive!!
Anyone wondering what it would be like to live out in the wild needs to read this book.
Buck must have been blessed with nine lives to have survived it. But through all his honest reflection, he maintains a sense of humor. I read every word with awe and wonder.

This book is an amazing account of life lived in the wilds of Alaska. How many people can say they lived the life they dreamed of? Mike ‘Buck’ Bowden can! The stories are personal, the pictures are incredible and together they bring the Alaskan wilderness to life for the reader. I highly recommend this wonderful book!

It is an amazing tale of a boy I grew up with and how he made Alaska his home, build a business and fell in love with nature. His stores are interesting, exciting and a bit funny too. He loves sharing his knowledge of hunting with so many people over the years and the friendships he had made. It’s our stories people will remember us by and Mike has many to share. Enjoyable read with passion for the life he leads in Alaska.
